Quality is served - 50th Anniversary Conference & Gold Gala Ball

A day of celebrating 50 years of heritage & an exciting future with the launch of our new brand proposition and expression...quality is served. Our annual conference included business updates from Chairman, Martin Agnew; MD, Damian Barrett; Business Development Director, Mark Stewart-Maunder and a guest presentation from Maureen Gahan of Bord Bia covering Foodservice trends & insights in global & Irish marketplace. Kiera Campbell, Sales Director, hosted a customer panel featuring Jack Kirwan (Sprout), Howard Hastings (Hastings Hotels) & Trevor Annon (Mount Charles). Sam Davidson, HR Director, held a staff panel through our history of past, present & long serving members of the team. Our audience were energised with international performance coach, Jamil Qureshi then intrigued by Joel Mawhiney, illusionist and mind reader. A jam packed agenda before we celebrated with a glamorous Gala Ball & Awards ceremony.

 

Our evening Gala Ball & Awards Ceremony celebrated success with our Pride Awards; supplier awards as well as a student chef, innovative food award, for University of Ulster. The compere for the evening was Sarah Travers, who did a fantastic job and added to the buzzing atmosphere. Our guest speaker from NI Children's Hospice was humbling & reinforced the importance our fundraising support provides for families. We were treated to a delicious 3 course meal which was a taste of Henderson Foodservice, featuring a range of ingredients all supplied by us. The atmosphere and support from our teams was amazing and our culture and true team spirit was evident to everyone. Overall, a fantastic day and evening for all!

 

Henderson Foodservice Awarded Gold Status!

Henderson Foodservice has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in  the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. The company was presented with Gold Status at a special awards ceremony in Dublin earlier this month, having demonstrated superior business performance for the 4th year running, an accolade awarded to just 17 of the 127 noted companies.

The awards event in Dublin’s Convention Centre marked the ninth year of the Deloitte Best Managed Companies awards programme, in association with Barclays Bank Ireland. The awards were attended by over 900 people from the Irish business community.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, in association with Barclays Bank Ireland, recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. The network of 127 Best Managed Companies now employs over 60,000 people around the country and has a combined turnover of almost €11bn. Recognising the  importance of overseas markets for Irish companies, the Best Managed Companies also recorded an average growth in sales of 44% over the last three years.

Commenting on the award, Damien Barrett said: “We are pleased to have been recognized by such a highly esteemed awarding body, such as Deloitte and even more delighted that we are one of only a handful of companies to achieve the gold standard award, after four consecutive wins.

“Winning this award is a fantastic moral boost for our whole team and is testament to the continuing strength of our business.  Everyone at Henderson Foodservice works tirelessly to ensure that our company is recognised for being industry leaders and we anticipate that the award win will only help to bring about more opportunities in 2017.

 

Sixteen companies from around Ireland were awarded “Best Managed” status for the first time this year, following a detailed qualification and judging process. This took into consideration the complete performance of the business, looking beyond the finances at criteria such as operational excellence, strategy and human resource processes.

Seventeen companies were presented with a “gold standard” accolade having secured “Best Managed” status for four consecutive years. Eleven companies were also presented with a “platinum club” accolade having secured “Best Managed” status for seven consecutive years. An additional 83 companies re-qualified having upheld the standard of a Deloitte Best Managed Company, following a comprehensive review process.

Managing Partner of Deloitte and judging panel member, Brendan Jennings commented: “Congratulations to all the 2017 winners. All the companies here tonight are at the end of a long process of evaluation, which makes their Best Managed designation even more rewarding and valuable as a marketing tool for their business. It is clear that these  companies make an invaluable contribution to the Irish economy - employing 60,000 people and generating turnover of €11bn.”

Sasha Wiggins, CEO of Barclays Bank Ireland, added: “We believe that great people make the best companies. Behind this year’s winning companies are 60,000 people who combined have demonstrated absolute commitment to business excellence. The Barclays team is delighted to have had the opportunity to support this diverse range of inspiring companies in the development of their unique strategies and we wish them continued success in the future.”

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards, in association with Barclays Bank Ireland, is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland. It is the only awards programme that considers a business’ performance from every perspective. Details of entry for the 2017/2018 programme will be issued in the coming months on www.deloittebestmanaged.ie. The Best Managed designation is an important marketing tool for the winning companies – but, perhaps most importantly, the awards provide a reason to celebrate the efforts of the entire company.

Henderson Foodservice steals the show at CATEX 2017!

We were delighted to once again showcase our growing product range at CATEX, which was held at the RDS, Dublin from 21-23 February.  If you attended the show, you'll agree it was a fantastic food-filled three days! 

The show was the ideal platform to show the market just what we can do, and how we can add value to any catering establishment.  We demo'ed our fresh meat and poultry range which includes Irish Dry Aged Beef, as well as our superbly packaged range of prepared vegetables. 

If you wanted to perk up your menu, you were in luck as we had our exclusive coffee partners, UCC, on the stand to demo coffee, hold tasting sessions and talk through the right bean and machine for your business.  We also had Northern Ireland's largest coffee brand, Barista Bar, with us - which was in constant use! 

Country Range, a firm favourite with chefs all over the island, was also a strong part of our stand, with Chef Paul Dickson on hand to show visitors how to really get the best out of the ingredients and store cupboard staples.
