When Natasha’s Law comes into play in October 2021, the way food business provides allergen labelling information for foods which are prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) will change.

All food business operators will be required by law to show every ingredient present in any food produced and packaged on site.

Prepacked for direct sale or PPDS is food that is packaged at the same place it is offered or sold to consumers and is in packaging before it is ordered or selected.

Foods will need to have a label with a full ingredient list with allergenic ingredients emphasised within it. The food will clearly have to display the following on the label:

• Name of the food
• Full ingredient list
• Allergenic ingredients emphasised (for example in Bold, colour, italics or CAPITALS)
